The Lego Ninjago Character Encyclopedia is the latest visual guide to join other Lego titles by Dorling Kindersley like the Star Wars Visual Dictionary, the Harry Potter Building the Magical World and the upcoming Lego Batman Visual Dictionary.
Understandably, this particular guide covers Lego’s own theme, created by The Lego Group in-house, Lego Ninjago, a theme which centres around four Ninja who battle the forces of evil for the control of the world of Ninjago.
Lego Ninjago
Lego Ninjago sets were first released in early 2011 and have since become one of Lego’s most successful themes ever.
A large part of the success can be attributed to the extensive back-story created by Lego which has been developed through books, comics and a cartoon shown on The Cartoon Network (and now on DVD)
Originally, four Ninja; Cole (Black Ninja – Earth Element), Jay (Blue Ninja – Lightning Element), Kai (Red Ninja – Fire Element) and Zane (White Ninja – Ice Element) were brought together to battle Lord Garmadon, the evil brother of their master Sensei Wu.
After “defeating” Garmadon, the four ninja were confronted by a bigger threat – in the form of mutant snake tribes who want to unleash a creature known as The Great Devourer to destroy the world.
Their battle with the snakes came to a dramatic conclusion at the end of Season Two and the Ninjago story continues this year with the release of the third season of the cartoon.
Adults and kids have been entranced by the theme’s story, humor and the sets themselves which have evolved from Japanese inspired Dojos, through flying Dragons and on to Mecha Robots and sophisticated vehicles.
